AUSTIN, Texas – Sun Devil Softball graduate outfielder Yanni Acuña was named to the 2023 Academic All-America® First Team selected by the College Sports Communicators, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
Acuña, who earned her undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies with a 3.66 GPA and currently maintains a 3.67 GPA as a graduate student (Communications), hit .400 while leading the team with 54 hits and 17 multi-hit games. She reached base in 44 of the 48 games and led the Pac-12 with a .523 on-base percentage.
A Third Team Academic All-America® selection in 2022, Acuña becomes the sixth player in program history to be named to one of the teams multiple times and the first since Amber Freeman in 2015.
